TLDR: I love SimAirport, personally & professionally. SimAirport will never be "done enough" for me personally - every dev stream, I'm like a kid in a candy store as players add their ideas and, inevitably, I continue to add on to the SimAirport Roadmap! That's just how much I care about it, and I'll personally continue working on it in some capacity likely for many, many years to come but I can't take out a second mortgage to focus squarely on it, it just isn't realistic (and I did quite literally contemplate that notion with my wife, but that was a relatively brief conversation heh). It's an incredibly gratifying thing to witness and is difficult to truly convey how important that has become to me, how much that has impacted me personally. There are things I'm not completely happy with things I really want to add/change/improve things I wish worked differently but, for the most part, I believe it's a great game and I'm genuinely honored when I see people with hundreds or thousands of hours of time spent playing it. Suffice to say, we (and I personally) learned a tremendous amount - and, somewhat unfortunately, some of those lessons were learned the "hard way", although sometimes that's the only way you really can learn those kinds of lessons.Īnyways, I digress I'm generally happy with the state of gameplay in SimAirport, especially when comparing it to the relatively foreign "game" that it was at release. As a result, I probably set my sights a bit too high in some cases - no doubt, I made some leadership & decision-making mistakes during the course of development though by that same token we also had numerous "wins", too. I've done a lot of things in my career personally, and I've liked some of those things even - but I've frankly never "emotionally connected" with something quite like I did with SimAirport and, more generally, with how gratifying it is to work with the community to build something that people legitimately enjoy & have fun playing/using. That said, the unfortunate reality is that game development is a business, and there comes a point where I literally must answer to my wife/kids - either I have to go get a "real job" or I need to ensure that LVGameDev stays viable. SimAirport will never be perfect to me, it was/is/has been my passion project and it all started because I wanted to build the game I wanted to play as a kid. I've said this here on r/tycoon before & the Steam forums & live-streams, but I'll briefly reiterate it:
